Using RTSI Control with 6534

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out exactly how to use the RSTI bus with the 6534 card. I believe the proper VI to use is RTSI Control.vi.

There needs to be two modes of operation. The first would be to connect any signl from the 6534 to RTSI 0 for other cards (ie. NI 5911, PCI-6031E) to trigger from. The second mode would be to listen to RTSI 0 and wait for the signal from which to trigger itself.

I think there's just something I'm missing that prevents me from completely understanding the proper methods to employ. I would appreciate any help anyone could give me.

Thank you very much!

It sounds like you are performing handshaking. You can configure one RTSI line
to be a transceiver for the 6534 and then configure another RTSI line to be the receiver for the 6534. The LabVIEW Help documentation has details about the different signals you can route to which RTSI lines. The 6534 uses the RTSI Control.vi.

You will also need to route the signals from the other cards' end. The PCI-6031 will use the Route Signal.vi for its RTSI connections. The 5911 has its own driver that will have configuration vi's to deal with RTSI. Once again, check the LabVIEW help files for these functions for more information about the possible routing available.

I'm not really doing handshaking. Essentially I just want one global trigger signal used by all cards. The signal can be coming from the Digital, Analog, or Scope cards.

So say I use pattern matching on the Digital card. How can I put a signal on the RTSI bus when that pattern has been matched?

Also, how does RTSI Control.vi control acquiring the trigger to start the digital acquisition? Or is this handled by the Digital Config Trigger.vi?

Thank you for your help!
