Hi random number -

I'm not sure how to help you, given the information in your post.
  • Which ARINC standard are you working with?
  • What is your application?
  • Do you have a copy of the standard that we can view to understand the context of your question?
  • Are you using any NI hardware or software in your application?
  • Do you need information to help you design a system that uses NI hardware or software?
My blind guess is that the feature is specifying a timestamping operation on the transmitted data and the received data.  This could possibly be used for comparison in some sort of test or verification process.

dear sir,

thanks for your mail. i am working on arinc708 weather radar interface. when i was searching similar products in net i found that term time tagging. i can sure that it is not time stamping. because i found one product with both time stamping and time tagging. most of arinc products has that feature(not only arinc708). please search as "time tagging + arinc " in google. there you can find out lot of product datasheets. from there only i found it. please try it.

thank you

Hi Lakshmi -

I searched for "ARINC 708" and found a few products referring to "IRIG time tags".  So I looked into those, and it appears that a time tag is simply a section of the data message that contains a time stamp from an IRIG-A or IRIG-B receiver.  The IRIG signals are transmitted by GPS satellites, and are very finely tuned for absolute timestamping.

I'm not familiar with this subject matter myself, so I won't be able to help you out much further than this.  I encourage you to contact an ARINC equipment manufacturer for any additional questions you have about the standard or their equipment features.
