what is optoCoupler MCT 2E ? i wanna use it for home automation

Hello friends,

                       I need your help . I am about to connect my pc's printer port to control my home devices. The manual with the software explains the circuitry diagram for connecting devices with the printer port. I am unable to get the clear meaning frm the diagram. I would be obliged if u could help me out. Following is the ciruitry diagram: 

 "Circuit Diagram for attaching devices to the printer Port"

For this application you can use virtually any optocoupler with a npn transistor open collector output, you are not restricted to the item mentioned in the circuit diagram.

You can also use PhotoMOS relays like the AQV212 from Matushita as a replacement, in this case you will not need the extra transistor since the AQV212 can handle several hundreds of mA of current.

Refer to manufacturers' data sheet for precise pin configuration if you use other devices than the one mentioned in the diagram.
