Calibrating the NI 4071 DMM

Hello All,

I am trying to Calibrate the NI DMM 4071 using LabVIEW.  I need some more adjustmen tsince the self-cal can get my required specs.   The first thing I do is call niDMM Initialize External Call vi. It is asking me for my Instrument Handle as well as the password. The password is NI according to the procedure.

According to MAX, the DMM is said to be PXI::9::INSTR.

The vi is telling me that the it needs to be in the form Daq::(Instr Number)::[INSTR].

I cannot get this tool to recognize my DMM.  Any help anyone?  Thanks.

Hi Roons,

Take a look at the document that I've linked below. It should help you figure out the appropriate instrument descriptor for your DMM. Keep me posted on your results.

I actually figured out by guess and check.

In MAX if i looked under DAQ devices it listed PXI DMM 4071 (PXI1Slot8)

In the vi i put DAQ:: PXI1Slot8::INSTR and it worked(put a space in there because it makes this face if i dont :P).

Now i am going through the trouble of calibrating the DMM.  Getting 10.000165 needs to be 10.000125 to 9.999075 .

Its getting ridiculous!
