Multi-channel DMM/LCR Tester

I'm developing a new hardware test solution that aims to measure resistance, impedance, conductance and relay settling time. The device to be tested is a Test Board which should comply with an LCR standard specification. The application of the Test Board is to test our products before shipping to customers. (so many testings huh...) I don't have anything to start with yet but I've seen NI PXI or Compact RIO as promising candidates as I'd need multiple analog inputs (max = 756channels). Looking forward for some assistance. Thanks!

Hello emra,

Thanks for your post!

I see that you are developing a large test system for your future projects and you need a large channel count as well. From reading your description I would highly recommend going with a PXI system. This will allow you multiple cards with high channel count capabilities.

Lets start with your LCR needs. I would really advise taking a look at our DMM/LCR meters for the PXI systems.

Digital Multimeters (DMMs)

I would say the best bet for you is the NI PXI-4072. This DMM can do Current, RTD, Resistance, Thermistor, Thermocouple, Voltage. Take a look at the specs of this card as I feel it will be able to take the measurements that you are needing.

NI PXI-4072

What you may notice at this point that the 4072 does not have 756 channels like you were needing for your testing purposes. So the great thing about PXI systems is the ability to add cards for your needs. We have switch modules that you can put in the system. So using the DMM you can switch all your different test points with a scan list. This will allow you to use the 1 DMM to test all the different points in your system. Take a look at the Switches page that talks about all the different switches that we offer. It will depend on what you need as to what switch to get. So for instance the PXI-2575 is a 196 channel switch but it can only go up to 100VDC at 1A.

SWITCHES

There is also a software suite called Switch Executive that can help you set up the different scan lists and channel connections for that many channels with some ease.

NI Switch Executive

Let us know if any of this information helps you and I would also like to ask if you would like someone from NI to contact you regarding your test needs? Have a great day and let us know if you need any more help or information!

Cheers!
