Hello IMMA
Are you able to successfully perform the Hyperterminal test? If this works, verify that the serial settings on the VI are correct. Sometimes the LabVIEW standard setting might not be correct for your instrument.
If this suggestion does not solve your problem, please post an example program so I can recreate the problem. Have a great day!

Hi IMMA
Since your hardware is working properly, as proven by the successful Hyperterminal test, your problem is most likely related to LabVIEW or the HP34970a driver you are using. It appears that the current instrument driver for the HP34970a has a minimum compatibility requirement of LabVIEW 6.0 or 7.0. If it is important to your project to use direct serial communication rather than VISA easy serial, you may want to consider upgrading to a newer version of LabVIEW.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance. Thank
you for choosing National Instruments!
