Color Picker not always there

In the previous icon editor, regardless of the selected tool, pressing CTRL would bring the color picker (this is extremly usefull to very quickly grab a pixel color). The new icon editor does not do that (pressing CTRL has no effect for the text and selection tool).

I will be very happy to see that feature back.
