Just recently I have downloaded LabView version 8.5.1. To prepare myself for the upcoming FTC season I decided to do the tutorials. When I realized I needed the FTC Toolkit, I downloaded it and when I ran the setup, it said LabView had to already be installed. I am positive LabView is since I ran it earlier, but the toolkit does not recognize it. Have I missed a step here?

Hello,
Where did you got to download the FTC Toolkit? I believe that all of the links on ni.com are downloads for the updates to the FTC Toolkit not the full version (please feel free to send me the link if I am wrong in this assumption). I believe that this may be the reason that you are seeing that message.
Here is a link to the installation instructions for installing the FTC Software for last year. The install disks should install LabVIEW and the FTC Toolkit together. You may be able to get a copy of the software from FIRST by contacting them. Otherwise, you may want to see if there are any other teams in your area that would be willing to let you borrow their install disks.
I am glad to hear that you are starting to prepare for next season! Feel free to let us know if there is anything else that we can do to help!
Thanks!

Oh I see, well then I have a question to add to that. How do I prepare for the FTC season with only an evaluation mode of LabView? And thank you for the information, I did not know that.

Hello,
It is always a good idea to make sure that you are familiar with the LabVIEW environment and general programming structures. For some general LabVIEW introduction I suggest that you check out some of these Getting Started Videos.
Also, once you have gotten used to the LabVIEW Environment you can check out the Robotics Academy for more documentation on FTC specific programming. I know that you will not be able to open up some of the examples to run them since you don't have the FTC Toolkit. However, still looking at the structure of the code is a good start so that when you receive the software you can hit the ground running.
Please let me know if you have any further questions on this and I will be happy to assist you! Have a great day!
Thanks!
