Is there a simple way to send joystick and pwm data to the tournament dashboard?

I'm trying to get a simple Joystick/Motor Control program running in LabVIEW. I just read that I must "Build" every time rather than deploying in order for changes to become effective. Is there also a simple way to feed joystick and pwm activity back to the provided dashboard for debugging? It's pretty hard to blind troubleshoot.

Have you seen the tutorial Using the FRC Dashboard?  This document has step by step instructions for sending data (such as joystick and pwm) from the cRIO-FRC or the driver station to the dashboard project.
