I have installed the FRC version of LabVIEW on my laptop and am having some troubles activating it properly.
The software was installed on the administrator user login, and works just fine from there. The activation went through and when I launch LabVIEW I see:
368 days remaining, license expires after Friday Jan. 15, 2010. But I do not routinely use my administrator login.
When I am logged in on my general user account and launch LabVIEW I see: Backup Temporary License, based on a change in hardware, 7days, expires Monday, Jan. 19. I have tried, in vain, multiple times to activate - using the activation codes and process received in an email from activation@ni.com And each time I try, I receive yet another emai with the same activation codes.
Help?!?!?!

Can you right click on LabVIEW and select Run as Administrator? Do we continue to see that same behavior if you do this?

Hey Deb,
This is interesting behavior because LabVIEW installs into the shared resources of Windows. Can you give us a few more details about the user accounts on this machine? Is the general account an administrator? Is there any access control software on the machine installed by your IT group?

Hi John -
I've tried the right click and run as administrator - but my password comes up invalid - hmmm, definitely not a LabVIEW problem.
My "IT guy" is my son - but communication across the many miles is sporadic at best. He thinks he can walk me through it - probably a shared resources problem. But we haven't been able to hook up yet.
In the meantime, my administrator account is working - and each time I check my user account I notice the backup expiration is reset to 7 days. I'll let you know if I get the issue resolved.
