Loading Labview using Windows 7 Operating System?

I bought a new laptop for our Robotics Club and it runs the Windows 7 Operating System.  Everytime I try to load Labview it gives me an Error Code 12.  Can anyone please help me.  It works great on my old laptop with Windows XP.  I tried loading it in Windows 7 using the Troubleshooting Guide and the feature of Loading it using older programs.

Hello David,

Which version of the software are you attempting to install?  The only version of LabVIEW that is officially supported on Windows 7 is LabVIEW 2009 although the other versions may work.

The error message *** Error: Windows SDK function returned an error. (Error Code -12)can occur if you install LabVIEW from the main Setup file that is executed with Autorun after you have put the CD into your PC.

In order to prevent this error from occuring, you must install LabVIEW from the setup.exe file located in the Distributions folder on the CD.

For example, if you are using LabVIEW 8.6.1 Development Suite the file path will be as follows (assuming the D Drive is the location of your CD)

D:\Distributions\LabVIEW861\setup.exe

Installing from this setup file should prevent the SDK error from occurring.
