Networking Issues...

At the University, our cRIO is not communicating with computer station. The cRIO does not register on the computer via the network connection. However, when using a separate wireless router, I can get the cRIO to show up on the computer, so I know that the cRIO works. We need the cRIO to go through the network to be able to use it as we want to. Can anyone point me to some information that would help with this problem? Is there possibly and issue with the firewall? What other pertinent information needs to be provided in order to get the cRIO to talk through the network?

Hello Hank,

Thank you for contacting National Instruments!  From your post is sounds like when you directly connect the computer to the cRIO you are not able to see it but when you connect it via a wireless router you can.  Is that correct?

If this is the case, can you verify that when connecting directly to the computer that you are using a Crossover Cable and have configured your computer with a static IP address?  Please follow the instructions starting at 5.1.2.1 through 5.2.1 of the Configuration Manual.  Let me know if you have any questions or if it is still not working using this setup and I will be happy to assist you further.

I hope this helps!  Have a great day!

Thanks!

Thank you for your help. The computer was able to find the cRIO after we upgraded the NI-RIO software. Thanks for your advice in this area.
