Please wait while Windows configures NI Labview Runtime engine 7.1.1

I am attempting to get Labview (FRC 2010) running on the team's computer. I have installed from the CD's and installed the updates for LV and the Driver Station.

We keep getting the following dialog whenever we start any program based on LabView: Please wait while Windows configures NI Labview Runtime engine 7.1.1

We then get a promt to insert a CD or browse for the installation files. The FIRST CD's don't seem to satisfy it and after we hit cancel a dozen or so times, the program finally runs.

What is wrong with this installation and how can I fix it? I have done the full installation from scratch twice. I have installed on other computers without seeing this problem and searching for the message here came up empty.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure off hand why you would get this message.  I remember being asked for the 7.1 runtime engine early in the beta when we hadn't yet updated the Axis camera configure exe to use LabVIEW 8.6 and we weren't installing the 7.1 runtime.  But it wouldn't make sense for this to be the problem now.

One thing to check.  If you go into Add/Remove programs, and look under National Instruments, do you see other LabVIEWs installed (like 7.1).  If so, you might try removing all the NI software, and then reinstall.

There is last year's version on this particular computer. I was beginning to suspect that.

I'll uninstall it and redo the installation and see what happens.

I'm not sure if you've done this, but if you open a VI itself and not LabVIEW first, it will try to open in the most recent version of LabVIEW you've opened. So if you were trying to open a VI directly and not LabVIEW 8.6.1 first, try that.

Otherwise, let us know how the uninstall goes.

Thanks!

The error was appearing (multiple times) whenever Labview was opened.

The uninstall/reinstall was successful in fixing the problem.
