Problem with the Linksys WGA600N Gaming Adaptor

We have two WGA600N Gaming Adaptors.

One works and the other doesn't. (It did yesterday)

I can't get access to the set-up stuff.

I have tried to connect to it by following the instructions in section 2.10.1 Configuration of Wireless Bridge...

I tried to reset it by pushing the reset button and that didn't help.

Can anyone tell be how to reset the non-working bridge and configure it again?

Thanks

Hi Robot215,

I have a few questions:  Are you able to open a web browser and navigate to the IP of the bridge?  If so, what are the limitations that you experience with this configuration tool?  Does the router power on at all?  What LEDs (if any) are lit on your WGA600N?

Hopefully, we can quickly get your system working again.

For reference, the standard procedure for troubleshooting your wireless connection is as follows:

The default configuration of the wireless bridge (WGA600N) and the wireless router (WRT610N/WRT160N) both require a few changes before you can use them to successfully communicate to your cRIO. If you are having connection problems after following the configuration instructions, chances are that the bridge or the router was incorrectly configured. Follow these steps to re-configure the router and the bridge:

  1. Restore both the router and the bridge to their default settings by pressing the red reset buttons located on both devices between the Ethernet port and the power connection.

  2. Follow the Configuration steps (2.10) to re-configure the bridge and router.

If the wireless configuration is still not working, check and make sure that the bridge is within range of the router and no other devices are interfering with the connection.

To do this:

  1. Reset the wireless bridge to its factory defaults by pressing the red reset button on the back on the back of the device.

  2. Set your computer's IP address to 192.168.1.1.

  3. Connect the wireless bridge directly to your PC using the orange crossover cable.

  4. Access the wireless bridge by navigating to the IP address 192.168.1.250 in a web browser.

  5. Check the wireless connections that your bridge can communicate with. You can use this information to troubleshoot if the router is within range or if there is an interfering network.

Is it possible that someone pressed the security button on the front?

I do not have any routers on other than my home wi-fi system.

When I power the WFA600N on the power light comes on.

The ethernet light comes on when I have the crossover cable plugged into my laptop and the bridge.

The wireless light blinks.

The Security light is off unless I press the security button on the front.  Pressing it again makes the light go out.

I use Firefox on my laptop and key in 192.168.1.250 and it times out.

Ditto for 192.168.1.1

I assume from the 5 step configuration tha step 2 means to set my laptops IP address to 192.168.1.1

I bring up the network screen and it shows an Unidentified network (Public network).

I view the status, properties, Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCO/IPv4), Properties and see 10.19.18.6

I changed that to 192.168.1.1

I tried Firefox ad 192.168.1.250 again and got a time out.

Also, I did a reset of the bridge by pressing the Reset button on the back.

I hold it for about 5 seconds.

After releasing it the power button blinks orange and the other light go out.

After a pause the power button turns green and following another short pause the ethernet light turns green and the Wireless light begins to blink again.

I repeated all of the above without any success in getting the WGA600N to respond like it shows in the Configuration steps (2.10)

Mike
