In the servo example, the wiring diagram shows how to connect the servo to the pwm port on the digital sidecar. It does not, however, tell you to install the appropriate jumper to provide power to the servo.
You're absolutely right. In order for the servo to move, you will need to add a jumper to the same PWM port you are using to supply a signal to the servo motor.
