Use of non FRC Crio for backup chassis bot?

Our team has access to a CRio from a potential sponsor.  Can this be used for a 2nd chassis bot for practice?  What steps would we need to do to get it to run?  We are having communications and imaging issues....  Is it even possible?

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks,

Due to all of FRC having a single cRIO image, I believe the cRIO would need to be a 9073 with all of the same C series I/O modules in order to work with the imaging tools.  There could be additional limitations as well that I'm not aware of.  With those caveats in mind, It's not likely viable to use a non FRC cRIO except as a learning tool.

Here's one person's experience: Can we convert ni cRIO 9074 to FRC 2009 cRIO?
