cRio not working – blinking light

Hello from FRC team 3198.

The other day when we were updating/formatting our cRio, the power cut out, and when we restored power we couldn't communicate with it. I put it in to safe mode and all seemed fine, so I used the imaging tool to reformat through safe mode as the on-screen dialogue box suggested. During the reformatting, the power cut out again. Ugh! It turned out our power distribution board was defective and it wasn't putting out the full 24V to run the cRio properly. Getting to the point, we now are completely unable to communicate with our cRio in either standard or safe modes. Upon powering up the cRio, the power light comes on and then an orange light–the status light if I recall correctly–flashes for a bit. I am concerned that the cRio is "bricked".

Please help!

Thank you,

Alexander Patton

Try this: plug the cRIO and your computer into the router, using a wired connection.  Make sure your computer has a valid IP address.  Then, open up NI's Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) on your computer and expand the "Remote Systems tab".  Can it find the cRIO?  If so, you should have the option of reformatting it from within MAX, and if that succeeds, then try reimaging.

If that doesn't work, then it would be a good idea to call NI at (866) 511-6285.
