Could someone at NI check the following minor bug in the cRIO Imaging Tool user interface? I don't have regular access to a cRIO to verify but I'm pretty sure I saw this occur once. I put in the team number and then immediately hit enter (rather than using the mouse or clicking anywhere else). The cRIO formatted and imaged properly but did not have the right IP address assigned; it received 10.0.0.2 (as though I never entered a team number). I'm guessing the imaging tool is written in LabVIEW; I've made similar mistakes with event structures several times, forgetting that hitting Enter causes a Value Change event on the assigned Boolean before updating any front panel terminals. If I'm wrong my apologies, I would have tested this further but don't have access to the hardware.

nathand,
I can confirm the behavior you describe in the post above. Hitting Enter while the cursor is in the Team ID box does flash the controller and gives it the default IP address of 10.0.0.2. Something to watch out for when diagnosing communication problems with your compactRIO. Thanks for bringing this to the attention of the FIRST Community.
Regards,
Ben

I saw this at the LA regional. Someone else was re-imaging and had just completed, and I walked up and saw that it had set the IP address to 10.0.0.6, despite the team number field being filled in. I assume it was because of this.

sciencewiz! I wish I had known you were there, I just got back from my trip there. Wonder if we met and I had no idea it was you. I would have thanked you for your many contributions to the forums here.
