Dashboard for FTC?

We are planning on using a magnetic sensor to find the weighted tubes during the game, but we can't figure out how we're going to alert our drivers when the sensor finds the "magic" tube. Does anyone know whether or not we can have a sort of dashboar or HUD to use during the matches? or is there already something like that, that I don't know about? Thanks!

In most cases the drivers won't have the time/inclination to look at any kind of off-robot "display" during the match.

One idea we've used is to connect an NXT light sensor to the NXT, and switch it to "Illuminated" when you detect the magnetic batton.

The bright red LED is a great indicator.  You could use it to illuminate a bigger target on the robot if you needed a larger indicator.

This way the indicator is right where the driver will be looking..... on the robot.

Another option is to put a small "flag" on a servo, and raise it when you see the mag sensor.
