Error while autoconfigure the FP-3000 Network Module with the NI-FBUS Configurator Ver. 4.0.1

I want to create a Testenvironment for Foundation Fieldbus.

Therefore I use the following components:

  • Fieldbus Power Hub FCS-PH-CC

  • FP-3000

  • FP-DI-300

  • PCMCIA-FBUS Port 1 und PCMCIA Card

  • Yokogawa Pressure Transmiter EJA100A

Software:

  • NI-FBUS Configurator Ver. 4.0.1

It all works fine, but the FP-3000 Network Module in the NI-FBUS Configurator won't get a correct network address (Node Address 250). As you can see in the first screenshot with the name "pic1.png".

But the Pressure Transmiter EJA100A works fine, as you can see in the screenshot "pic2.png".

The NI-FBUS Configurator show the error and warning messages (see screenshot "pic3.png"):

  • Warning – NIF_ERR_COMM_ERROR – Comm error…

  • Error – NIFCONF_ERR_NO_ADDRESS – This object needs to have a permanent address…

If I set the address of the FP-3000 by context menu, the same error message will be shown.

How can I solve the error. Thanks for your help.

Hi BruchD, you could try the following actions.

1. Go to menu "View" -> "Preferences" -> "General" in the Configurator. And make sure "Automatically Set the pdTag and Node-address" is unchecked. Press OK.

2. Right click the FP-3000 device, and select "Set to Factory Defaults".  Then press Yes on the popup dialog window. Wait for the restore-to-factory finishing. The device and all blocks should be "NO TAG".

3. Right click the device and click "Set Tag", like FP-3000. Right click the device and click "Set Address", like 250 or else. Wait for finishing.

4. And Set Tag for all the blocks using the same way.

Then let's see whether it works fine. Thanks.

Setting a tag works fine, but set an address failed (see screenshots).

Hi,

What address do you set? This device needs a permanent address [16 ~ 247]. Sorry, please try the following steps again.

Right click the device and click "Set Address", like 17 or else. Wait for finishing.

4. And Set Tag for all the blocks using the same way.

Please let me know the result. Thanks.

It is very weird. Maybe we need go through the very basic step.

1. Please power off your another device PT001 and connect the FP-3000 only.

2. Start NI-FBUS Communications Manager, and then NI-FBUS Configurator. Select the interface with the FP-3000 only.

3. Go to menu "View" -> "Preferences" -> "General" in the Configurator. And make sure "Automatically Set the pdTag and Node-address" is checked. Press OK.

4. Right click the FP-3000 device, and select "Set to Factory Defaults".  Then press Yes on the popup dialog window. Wait for the restore-to-factory finishing. (refer to the attached Factory Default.png)

The device and all blocks should be "NO TAG".? And because FP-3000 is a little slow. So please make sure all the blocks expand completed. And capture a snapshot to me. (refer to my attached ExpandAll.png)

5. Then check the Address as attached Default Address.png. If the Address is a permanent one. You needn't to change any more.

6. And Set Tag for all the blocks using the same way. (refer to Reset Done.png)

7. If no error happens, then connect your PT001 device to the network.

8. If FP-3000 couldn't expand at all, then please use Dialog Utility to Expand All and capture snapshot to me for checking. (refer to Dialog_ExpandAll.png)

I made step 1-4 but after "Set to Factory Defaults ... " there will be no blocks shown in the advanced view (see pic1.png).

The Error in pic2.png is show at startup of the Tool Dialog. Also in Dialog there are no blocks in the list.

Hi,

1. for the error with the Dialog (in pic2.png), could you capture the whole picture of the error message? So that I could check some details. Drag the Horizon Scroll Bar to the right. When using Dialog, please let the CM run.

2. There is another thing you could have a try. Please close Configurator and CM, then run the Interface Configuration Utility. Select the interface with FP3000 and you could try two cases.
(1) Try one: Edit -> Advanced... -> Old Default. And make sure the following setting.
    T1: 0x40000
    T2: 0x40000
    T3: 0x30000
    Slot Time: 5
    Number of Unpolled Node: 0xba
(2) Try another: Edit -> Advanced... -> Old Default. And make sure and change to the following setting.
    T1: 0x40000
    T2: 0x40000
    T3: 0x30000
    Slot Time: 5
    Number of Unpolled Node: 0

3. BTW, do you have another FP3000 device to try out?

4. If all trials fail, I wonder whether I could remote to your PC to help test? Please email me to fieldbus.support@ni.com with your personal information.
