Integrate FP3000 to CS3000 DCS

I have a project that uses remote I/O module. Please advise us if you have experience to integrate the FP3000 to a Cs3000 DCS.

I need your feedback as soon as posible because we are finalizing the engineering details of our project.

Sorry I haven't used CS3000, but I think FP-3000 is a good device to port multiple legacy 4-20 mA instruments to Fieldbus applications with low cost.

Is there any special requirements for FF instruments to be imported to CS3000 system like the .FHX file limitation in DeltaV? Or can CS-3000 only use the standard DD files to commission the FF device?

If you want to know more about FP-3000, please refer to the attached User Manual, which has comprehensive information of its specification and functionality.

Hope it helps.

The purpose of the FP3000 is used only for simple monitoring and control of discreet and analog signal like conventional. No added features needed. NI forum coordinator where are you please help me to my problem.

It is not bad to use FP-3000 for discrete applications, you can simply connect the FP DI/DO or Relay modules to FP-3000, and try to use the Expression Block to create your custom built-in programs among those DI/DO blocks, and execute the discrete logic within FP-3000, which will not go through FF H1 communications and can be executed fast.

If the system requires the Capability file (.cff) for FP-3000, that might be a problem. Because FP-3000 is very flexible to create new function blocks according to the physical I/O modules as well as customer requirements. In this case, the CFF file might not be fixed like other FF instruments. And the CFF file can be adjusted to fit the actual configuration of the FP-3000 I/O modules. If you have such problem, you can contact fieldbus.support@ni.com, they can help you on that.

Another thing is that FP-3000 needs external power supply (VDC), so you need to think about the safety and power consumption when you place it in the segment.
