fieldbus power hub

We have a fieldbus system which consists of the following components:

- FP-3000 - Foundation Fieldbus communication network module
- AT-FBUS – PC interface ISA – which ensure the connection of a PC to the Fieldbus network
- FCS-PH-CC (made by Relcom Inc.) - Fieldbus Power Hub

Now the PC cannot communicate with the FP-3000 module and we identified the power hub as being the problem.

It is a possibility to connect the PV directly to the FP-3000?

Which are other power hubs recommended for connecting the PC to the FP-3000?

The FCS-PH-CC is good for connecting between FP-3000 and AT-FBUS; furthermore, the FP-3000 is not powered by bus, so you don't even need power on the Fieldbus Power Hub, just connet to H1 port of AT-FBUS and H1 port of FP-3000.

However, you can create a cable connecting directly between H1 ports of FP-3000 and AT-FBUS although it is not recommended. But you must notice the pin out diagram of the D-Sub connectors, please refer to the picture attached.

For the other options of Fieldbus junction box (like power hub), you can choose many different products from Turck, P+F, MooreHawke and others. But I think the Power Hub from Relcom Inc. is good for your application.

It is a possibility to test the communication lines on the AT-FBUS and FP-3000 independently?

Keep in mind if you do connect the AT-FBUS card direct to the FP-3000 there are no terminations on
the segment. Because of the high P-P mV of the FF signal you may find that the  waveform is distorted
& will not resolve correctly. The best way is to use the power hub (2x terms) & connect some sort of
FF H1 checker (FBT-3 or 6) to see if there is an LAS signal on the bus. If you dont have one of these
then a scope will tell you if there are any  "probe node"  packets occuring.
If the AT-FBUS still does not show a node set it as a basic device - the FP-3000 may be conflicting if
it is also set as an LAS.
This should not occur but I have found this to be the case.

FF is not difficult its just different & you must use "network" type troubleshooting.

Good Luck
