Abuse of rating system

It appears that someone is abusing the rating system in the LabVIEW forum. Someone has given one star ratings to every post made by a frequent contributor. It appears that the rating has nothing to do with the actual answer and is just a spiteful act. I think the rating system should either be eliminated or a real name and email address should be required from anyone that does a rating. Personally, I enjoy sharing my experience with both new and old users but if the idiotic behavior persists, I'll probably find a better way to spend my time.

Being the target of this 'attack' I would like to know who this person is. I have my suspicions, and if it is one of two people I suspect, then I apologize to the other members of this forum that something from a non-forum related issue is being aired on this board. Unfortunately, I cannot stop this person from doing this. However; I have requested a modification to the rating system. This is being addressed.

Abuse of this forum is completely unacceptable. LabVIEW Programmers are a special breed of people, and as such, I believe should exempt themselves from the petty things in life. The continued success of this forum depends on everyone maintaining integrity.

If anyone ever has an issue with a post, please comment publicly, or email the person wi
th whom you have issue. Constructive criticism is more than welcome. I would LOVE to know if someone has any criticsm of my answers. I am always seeking to improve myself, and cannot possibly do so if I am not made aware of my misgivings. However; personal vendettas should not be aired in public. It only seeks to damage the forum.

Please keep this forum effective. It's a great resource.

These issues come up once in a while, for example HERE, and I feel the star rating should be changed to a simple boolean (unrated, high rated) for the following reason:

It is not clear what the criteria for the stars are, and they mean different things to different people.

While one person thinks that:
1 star = excellent
2 stars = ...
3 stars = ...
4 stars = extrordinary,

Another user might think of 1 or two stars as insulting, and assumes a scale according to e.g.:
1 star = poor
2 stars = ...
3 stars = ...
4 stars = extrordinary

Personally, I believe that even 1 star is already a thumbs up" or "encouragement", while others think otherwise. If the graded star system should be retained, the meaning of each level should be clearly defined, e.g.:

1 star = A good, short, answer that guided me in the right direction.
2 stars = As above, but it included more technical details and maybe a useful link.
3 stars = ...
4 stars = As above, but the answer also included a complete VI that immediately solved all my problems.

... you get the idea.

My suggestion is that

let the person who answer the question to enable or disable the rating for his answer.
Or leave only 4 star ratings and remove one,two and three stars away.
How about that? then everybody will happy and keep this fourm alive.
