- Ray R - do you have font set in the browser somehow? I also use that version of firefox and that text size setting and can see board names as bold when there are unread messages. The font in your screenshot definitely looks different from what I see. Also, what is your monitor resolution? I'm not certain what you mean about the HTML tags, you can still edit your message in HTML form so I think I'm missing something. I think your unexpected error was due to a bad link in a message that has since been corrected. I have not noticed the cursor disappearing. Let me know if you notice something that causes it to happen.
I have found an instance when the cursor disappears: Resize the editor.
I tried resizing the editor and it didn't work 😞
Happened for the 2nd time today.

Hi Laura,
one more complaint/idea/suggestion:
I think the email notification for new messages is way to big in terms of screen size...
See that pic:
That's what I see when opening those emails.
- Well, I don't need the NI logo on top, I already know it's from NI because of the subject line...
- I don't need my name in bigger font and bold, I know it's an email for me when it reaches my mailbox...
- The email top part consist of a lot of redundant information, as marked.
- the mail body is centered and only uses ~640 pixels width. It even has to wrap some text due to using a bigger and bold font... Why don't you stick with left aligned text, using the full width with no word wrapping?
When receiving those emails all I need is an indication of the thread (which is already done in the email subject) and one link to the latest reply. As I usually use the preview pane (of Thunderbird) I even have to scroll to click the link. Could you please revise the email formatting to something more compact? Like holding the relevant information in the first 4 lines of the email body?

GerdW, I will second your opinion and add one more:
1. The Subject is too long. When viewing my GMail on a netbook (read, 1024px horizontal resolution) I cannot see any of the good stuff, all I see is "NI Discussion Forums Subscription: 1 Update ..." (you can see how long the subject is in the image below, although the screenshot was taken on a 1920px horiz monitor so I'm able to see a little of the subject. Imagine seeing less of the subject and none of the body if I'm on the netbook)
2. See additional issue below:

What didn't work? Having the cursor disappear when you resize the editor? Happens to me each time. And clicking in the editor doesn't bring it back. Using Firefox 3.6.4.

Hi Everyone - My latest responses are below:
Some fixes and changes should be made tonight. I'll list them tomorrow after I verify the changes.
Thanks,
Laura

We have a slightly different scenario. My cursor does not dissappear. It is not there in the first place.
Occasionally (twice so far), I simply click replay and without any other intervention, there is no cursor.

You see how different we are!
I didn't even open the update emails! (I think I have not opened any of them in the past years ) I use Magic Mail Monitor to see my mailboxes content and looking at the message subject I already know which discussion to open. Next I directly delete the message as I don't need to open it.
I don't mind the link to go directly to the last reply: I could have more replies unread and simply opening the discussion automatically lead me to the first unread message, so...

I seem to remember I have: I will check tomorrow when coming back to my office.

- smercurio - that's the same macro I tested in both Firefox and IE and I used rich text both times. I notice a second quotation mark is missing from the second URL. Perhaps try adding that back? I've noticed that the new version is touchier about HTML when I'm changing the announcements. Thanks for the tip on the disappearing cursor, I've reproduced and will report.
Thanks,
Laura
Yup, that was it. Missing quote. Sometimes a third eye is required to catch those little things. Thanks...

muks - In case an image is inappropriate it can be reviewed by a moderator. We don't use that feature.
But there is already a "Report to moderator" right?
