This message is about the recent unread messages box on the right hand side. I know that the issue has already been reported that for the multiple page threads, the page numbers listed below the message title don't work and you always wind up on the first page (even though the hyperlink looks like it includes the page number in the request.)
But I'm not sure if this issue has been reported. On the Ideas Exchange, the number of pages shown doesn't always match the actual number of pages. As of this moment, the idea here http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW-Idea-Exchange/Show-hidden-controls-as-quot-ghosts-quot-in-edit-mode/... has the idea and 20 comments, and takes up two pages. However, if you have unread messages, there are 3 page numbers listed below the title on the block on the right hand side of the screen. It thinks the message thread is already on 3 pages, when the 20 comments only take up 2 pages. Only when the 21st comment comes along will the number of pages actually match what is shown in the unread messages box.
I don't have a screenshot because as soon as you go to the idea, it will be read and thus fall off the unread message block, so by the time I realize it is happening, it is too late to get the screenshot to show it.

Presumably what happens there is that the unread module counts the number of posts in the thread (21), just like it does anywhere else, but the link that says "20 comments" ignores the idea, thus causing a discrepency. Would this be a good time to complain again about Lithium's decision to reinvent something when they had something that worked better?

Idea Options>>Mark as New will make it show up in unread again.

Yair,
Your explanation certainly makes sense. Like there is a +1 already wired in there that is only needed for the regular boards, but is not needed for the idea exchange.
Tim,
I tried doing a Mark as New, but for some reason, it didn't reappear in the unread list for me. So I didn't bother persuing that further just to grab a screenshot.

Macro dropdown is messed up again. Seeing this on IE 8.

I had done Options for the particular comment and did Mark as New. The idea thread did not reappear on the right hand side.
Just now, I caught up with all my unread messages. The main board showed I had 1 New message, but when I went to the Ideas Exchange, no threads were listed on the right hand side saying I had New or Unread messages. Realizing I had done the marking of the message as new, I went and found that thread, sure enough, it listed 1 new message, so I read it to clear my stats. But I think it is odd the way the right hand side Unread discussions list handled it.

Everything worked as expected for me when I selected Mark as New.

If I have more than one page of unread messages in the expanded view of Unread Discussions on the Idea Exchange, when I hit "Next Page" it always displays "No more Posts" or something similar, I forget the exact wording. If I then go back to the main Idea Exchange page and hit View All under Unread Discussions the rest of the posts show up. (Unless there's still more than one page, of course)
Clear? I hope so, but probably not.

This works fine for me IF the next page still exists. I'm guessing what happens in your case is that there are only two pages to begin with. Once you're finished with reading the posts from the first, you move to the second, but now there's only one, because you already read all the posts from the first page, and so you get an empty page.
To work around this, I've learned to simply refresh the page when I'm done. Going to the next page wouldn't make sense in any case, as if I'm reading all the unread stuff, I would rarely want something ignored.

Yup, that makes perfect sense. Still unexpected though.
