Arrgh! The message editor for these boards can be so frustrating sometimes!!!!

Things that really need to be fixed:
  1. Using the "Preview Post" should not cause an attachment to disappear.
  2. "Check Spelling" should not be available in only the "Edit as HTML" window/mode.
  3. There should be a way to return to the ordinary editing window/mode from the "Edit as HTML" window/mode.
(Note that going from the ordinary editing window/mode to the "Edit as HTML" window/mode and then trying the "BACK" button on the browser will cause any text to be entered into the edit window to be completely lost!)
  4. There should be some protection/warning/whatever provided to the user when some action he is about to take will cause the text in the window to be lost! Better yet, figure out some way to protect the text and allow the user to move back & forth a bit! Isn't this something that can be handled by session cookies?

I here ya!

I sometimes have to have 5 windows open just to answer one question. One of those windows is Notepad, just to keep a copy of what I have typed.

Warren & Ben -

1 - This is on the list of things that will be fixed in an upcoming release.

2 - I'm guessing that you are using a FireFox browser, because when I use IE, the Check Spelling option is the Red Check Mark icon at the top of the window.  This feature isn't available in FireFox though.

3 - I hadn't noticed this problem before.  I will add this to the list of things we are reporting to the developers.

4 - We agree with this completely and are working with the developers to find a good way to resolve the problem when you lose the text of your message.

Thanks for the feedback!

Actually I am using Internet Explorer and did not realize that the "red check mark icon" meant "spell check".
I've been looking for something that says "Check Spelling" like you currently find on the Edit As HTML page.

So I'll revise my complaint #2 so that it now says:

2a. Try to maintain a consistent user interface across the various pages.

2b. Try to use a more descriptive icon - a red check is less useful/intuitive than a red check sitting on top of an "ABC".

Warren,

Clicking "Preview Post" will do exactly that for you 😉

(Note that this option is at the same location as "Edit as HTML" in regular mode)

Ahh, another fine example of the clear, intuitive interface available to the user here.

Sarcasm aside, it is still good to know. Thanks!
