Attachment formats

Hello Molly,

Would it be possible to add .rft format to the list of allowed attachments. I try not to documents in application specific formats so those without that application can read them, and sometimes a plain text file is hard to format for easy reading. So I like to use .rtf files so I can at least have some simple formatting.

And could you block the attachment of bmp files? I'm to the point that I won't even open one anymore.

I can block them.  I have had this request once in the past.  What is the general consensus?  No bmps?  I need two more votes for it (and none opposed), and I will happily do it.

The problem with BMPs is size and I am also voting for disallowing them as attachments. It does not seem reasonable to have a simple FP screenshot with a file size of 4MB.

OTOH, the people that can barely get a screenshot in any format are the ones also most likely needing help with LabVIEW. 😉

If we disallow BMPs, there should be a clear help section on how to make and attach a screenshot of a front panel  and block diagram.

Some of us even posted VIs that allow to create a PNG of the FP and BD of any VI. (See for example this post).

Molly, I say NO BMPs. However, in addition to the help, there should be, if possible, a piece of text that says (if people try to upload one) "you can't post BMPS, but... (you can use JPG or PNG or GIF and to create them you should...)".
