Cannot open images in a new tab while composing a reply.

So yes, this is great, but there seems to be a small flaw. When I reply to a post containing pictures and want to more closely inspect one of the pictures while composing the reply, I can hover over the images below the edit window as long as I want, but that flyout corner tool never appears. Is there a reason for that? Would be great to have because a good look at the images is often needed while replying. Thanks!
