Comments/Questions on New Layout

I am sure this has been mentioned, but bullet lists still have a larger font than normal paragraph text. The sizes should be the same.

Hi altenbach,

Thanks for reporting this!

We're aware of the issue with the bulleted and numbered lists showing the older styling (with larger font and line spacing) and have actually already fixed it in our development environment. You should see the fix here very soon Smiley Happy

Thanks,

Hi,

update on message 78 and message 93:

In FF48.0.1 (and before) I don't have the functionality described by gregoryj. The text color button is just "one big block", while the spellcheck next to it has two clicking areas (executing spellcheck and language selection)…

So I still have to select the color each time again!

Best regards,
GerdW

That is a bug specific to Firefox. It is not occurring in Chrome or IE. The issue has been escalated to Lithium Support.

Thanks,

I have to add another topic which i haven't seen in the thread yet:

If i provide a kudo to a post, it does not update the page. As a result, i am not necessarily sure that i provided the kudo or not.

Also, the kudo button does not change. So there is no feedback on the provision of the kudo at all. On top of that, pressing the kudo button twice removes the kudo. While this might be intended, the kudo button should change its color to reflect a complete new functionality (remove instead of add!)

+1. I just realised that I inadvertently revoked some kudos while trying to figure out whether I had voted yet...

This is still an issue and I think it should be addressed.  I was browsing the Idea Exchange and I saw an idea that I like and so I clicked Kudo.  Turns out I kudo'd it before but didn't remember it, so the kudo count actually went away.  I had to refresh the page, and remember the previous kudo count, then see if the kudos went up or down, and if it went down I would have to click kudo again.  If it went up I was successful in giving a kudo.  This process that used to take one click, and needed no follow up, now takes between 2 and 3 clicks, and potentially 2-5 seconds for every kudo I want to give.

Can we get some visual feedback on if I gave a kudo to a post or idea similar to what we had?

The issue with the kudos button is still beign worked on. We hope to see an update for the visual queue very soon. In the meantime, if you're on desktop, you can hover over the kudos button to see the tooltip which indicates what action you can take.

Hi Lili,

when do we get new default avatar images suitable for that new circular design?

See this "environmental collection" as an example:

We are working on having a collection of high-res avatars available for the new design.

So, previously it seems that you made some of the default text smaller (it needs to be smaller yet or have a way for users to change it as a preference so that people who use this site on something that isn't a phone can read it more efficiently).  However, I've seen a tone of posts that still have bold text.  I see it very often so it's hard to believe that they changed it manually when they posted.

E.g. http://forums.ni.com/t5/Development-and-Deployment/Preventing-User-Access-to-Windows-while-running-a...

P.S.  If personalizable default text size is not at all possible (or in the meantime), is there a specific CSS style name used for all default post text so that I can update the style in my browser?

P.P.S.  I was able to fix both of the aforementioned fonts with the following in Stylish (The first fixes the previously 'fixed' font and the second fixes the one I've brought up in this post):

@-moz-document domain("forums.ni.com")
{
  #lia-body .lia-content p {
      font-size: 14px;
      line-height: 1.2;
  }
  .lia-message-body-content {
    font-size: 14px;
    line-height: 1.2;
}

This aproach isn't sustainable so a user-based preference would be awesome.

I created a post and posted it.  I then went back to edit it but while editing, it told me it timed out so I canceled my edit.  When I went back to the thread, my whole post was gone . . .

To summarize, there are still posts that have the larger bold text that don't seem like they should.  Also, it would be awesome if we could get a user preference to change the default base font size.  I've been mining around in the CSS to find the ones that I want changed and have implmented them using Stylish in Firefox for this domain.  However, this is obviously not sustainable so a preference would be preferred :).

Here is what I've done so far and things are starting to look better:

@-moz-document domain("forums.ni.com")
{
  #lia-body .lia-content p {
      font-size: 12px !important;
      line-height: 1.2 !important;
  }
  .lia-message-body-content, .lia-message-editor {
    font-size: 12px !important;
    line-height: 1.2 !important;
  }
}
