Hi becktho,

That's a good suggestion. Plus I like your signature..
It certainly helps when providing assistance (not saying that you need any 😉 )

Alten..

I was surprised that I could edit multiple times..

And yes, I did catch 3 improvements in a row..

The rest were to "test" the system..

"One of the few parameters where I don't have direct control is the number of ratings. Since you did not mention it, I proudly announce my personal benchmark of passing Greg in this category. Over the years, he was probably the most influential presence here (and on info-labview)!
"

congratulations on that accomplishment Altenbach!

At the rate you are going you will be moving into the #4 position on the #of replies list at about the same time as move into the #2 postion in this catagory at about the same time.

I have to admit that I would feel much more comfortable having you ahead of me than behind. In fact I had to stop myself when I was tempted to just give you the stars you need to move up to #2, but then realized that would only cheppen what you have earned through hard work.

So, what E-catagories would you like to take on (if any)?

Nervously looking over his shoulder,

Yes, I probably would have significantly more posts, but I had quite a few dry spells under the old format, because the developer exchange was just too clumsy to use back then.

Once you have answered every possible question 10x, there might also be some burnout. I have no doubt that some of our young hotshots will pass both of us sometime in the future 😉

(OTOH, Dennis might be out of reach until he retires 🐵

The star and post count system is not a competition, but some slightly flawed way to indicate a certain level of seniority so new users can hopefully better decide which one of multiple replies might be slightly more accurate, more efficient, more likely to succeed, or prettier. 🙂 Once you have a few hundred stars, the incremental difference is zero.

I agree that is why I posted the suggestion about "E" s in this thread.

http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=130&message.id=856#M856

The # of contributions and ratings (in my case) reflects "how many miles I have logged in the woods" and "how many nuggets Ihave stumbled across".

The E-system would let those with less "logged miles" establish that they are "qualified guide" for the part of the forest being explored in the question.

Re: Dennis...
I calculated that it would take me three years to catch up to him IF HE STOPED!

I have resigned myself to trying to make sure he does not double me. I am schedule to loose that battle in less than a year.

The Broken Arrow Café sounds great. How about just "The Broken Arrow"?
I also like MacGyvers. It describes us interestingly, just like my temporary icon (or would MacGyver's be better?).

Since this is the enthusiats thread, I'm going to reveal a small thing I just found out - in IE, if you click ctrl+left mouse anywhere here, you get to Ben's profile!
Correction - after testing this some more this stopped (I get my homepage or the main forums page), so I'm not sure exactly what this function does and a quick search in google yielded no useful results. Not that it really matters (or is related), but does anyone know what ctrl+click does? I'm not sure why it got to Ben's profile. I don't remember visiting that page. Not recently, anyway.

Since we've sidetracked this thread entirely and CC will probably have to start a new one anyway:
A. Now that you mention it, I do happen to like JT - Grease, SNF, Pulp, Shorty, Mad City, Phenomenon and Primary Colors were all OK to very good. Battlefield earth, Michael, Face\Off and Swordfish were terrible. The name Broken Arrow was brought up by JP, but you know what, the movie was OK. BTW, speaking of Broken Arrow, I preferred Due South's version of it (Ask JP or Donald) - That was one of the episodes with Buck Frobisher (Who, to quote from the series "bares an amazing likeness to canadian actor Leslie Nielsen"). Similar themes (Train, A bomb, kissing), A bit sappy, but still better than Christian Slater and Samantha Mathis kissing on the train. Did I mention I'm a bit of a movie buff?
B. Speaking of the yellow people (does Dilbert count as yellow?), Marge's sister is named SELMA, and no, I'm not her. I just like MacGyver. Plus, I recently started watching Stargate SG-1, which is with Richard Dean Anderson. In my view, anyone who doesn't like MacGyver is the devil and deserves to work in C for the rest of their lives.
C. Please don't mention Pulp near Broken Arrow again. Ever.

And in order not to completely sidetrack the thread, how about "Here be monsters"?
I really like that one.

THIS broken arrow is related to NI Stuff... Unless you are such a good programmer that you've never seen a broken VI before 😉

You have inspired me once again JP!

I asked myself "Beside the classic 'Hello World' example, what kind of useful VI can I write without getting a broken arrow?"

The results are attached.

Useful? Maybe.
