Wow... 10 years in just a few weeks!

We haven't done much brainstorming around the Member, Regular, Veteran terms yet so we'll defintely have to think about that.

Thanks!

Laura

The posting timestamp tells  05-18-1999 07:51 PM,

however the registration time of my former account tells 01-25-2001 07:21 PM Smiley Surprised

Seems that the timelines got mixed up somewhere....  I remember using NNTP server in that time to post to the forum

Hi Ben,

It wouldn't be solution count - I don't think this is a good metric to include in ranks because I can see it causing strife over which message gets marked as the solution versus which message users feel should be marked as a solution.

Activities would include things you can do on ni.com/community like comment on documents or example programs, perhaps vote in polls, join groups, and tagging both on the forums and ni.com/community.

I hope to put together a better plan soon and present it to all forum members for feedback - I'll put up an announcement.

Thanks,

Laura

I would like to see something added to change the value of that first metric.

I joined the forums just before the switch from stars to kudos.

Since I was relatively new, I got mostly 4 out of 5 stars, and my first metric was listed as 'Trusted'.

I would like to make the transition from 'Trusted' to 'Proven' if possible, but since the transition to Kudos, I dont think this is possible.

Hi Cory,

Changing the first metric is a priority in our project to change some rank metrics.  Unfortunately the project is progressing slower than we would like at this point for a variety of reasons, but we will get there 🙂

Thanks,

Laura

Laura,

Thanks for opening up this discussion.  I'm thinking. solution count isn't a very good meteric today because the solutions do not always get marked by the newer (or transient) forum members.  Kudos are a poor choice to replace this meteric due to the nature of Kudos (meaning Good Post!).

It seems that another option could be implemented like "Dittoes by user" meaning I'ld chime in too but xxxxuser just nailed it saith this user (name appearing as a pop-up list) or "Potential Solution" that would set off on-point posts that may not be the exact solution selected by the original poster but contain a possible implementation of value to other readers (and add value to future searches).  Of course, this would beg for a search by "Potential Solutions" function. Or some combination of the two.

Opinion anyone?

Laura can set up polls on any subject.

I'll also assume she could assign title to users.

The transitions between nothing >>> trusted >>> proven don't happen that often.

How about....

When a person would like to be concidered for an upgrade, Laura can start a poll like

"

Ben has requested concideration for upgrade from Proven to "Fuzz-bear" status.

Do you approve of this upgrade?

"

Durring the poll the user can edit their signature to indicate "I am requesting an up-grade, please vote here if you approve." If accepted they get up-graded. If not they can try agin in six months. If it would be possible to limit responses to the poll to just the frequent flyers, we would get better quality control (See Plato's Republic) but I don't know if that is already built-in.

That seems simple enough and does not invlove Lithium (big bonus in my book) changing anything and can be put in place now.

What you YOU think?
