If not they can try agin in six months. If it would be possible to limit responses to the poll to just the frequent flyers, we would get better quality control (See Plato's Republic) but I don't know if that is already built-in.
That seems simple enough and does not invlove Lithium (big bonus in my book) changing anything and can be put in place now.
What you YOU think?
Ben
That would require that people have seen this user before.
There are a lot of people on these forums, and only a handful stand out as 'regulars'.
IE Dennis, Altenbach, Ben, RavensFan, JLV, etc.
I would just be "that guy with the really cool signiture "

I agree with Cory.
Also, you might have someone that only posts jokes in the Breakpoint forum, has many "friends" and gets voted that way. Then the rank has no/less meaning.

So what do we do with that first bar now?
can we tie it to certification?
CLAD = Trusted
CLD = Proven
CLA = Amazing (we will need to apply the dark-gold bar for this one)
The one exception would be once a person acheives a rank, they can not loose it even after the certification expires.
Just trying to help Y'all out since I have other plans in the making.

Thats an interesting idea. I'm on board for that.

I don't really care either way, but since you asked, I feel that a rank should be based on automatic criteria directly related to your activity in the forums. This means no linking to CLAD and no having users voting on each other (a bad opening for politics). Off the top of my head, I would say that the system can calculate once every X days the ratio of kudos/posts over the last N days since the user's last post and use that as a rank until the next recalculation. This should work around all kinds of issues. I have no idea what such a metric means, though.
If you want badges, you would probably want Laura to add a separate section in which people can have a number of badges (e.g. LV champion, CLAD, CLD, been-to-X-NIWeeks, etc.)

How do people feel about just dropping that first bar all together?

The problem with that is how do we account for the hardware + VB gurus?(although they should be using LV) Measurement Studio? Multisim?, we have to allow them to advance as well. its not all LabVIEW

I don't think it's a good idea. Sorry Ben.
I've seen many posts by CLAD and it does not mean they are better than someone without certification. And that would push for selling more certifications than actually a measure of someone's competance. I no longer have any certifications (we won't get into why).
I'm sure there's a simple logical way. We simply have no thought of it yet.
Let's put on our thinking caps...

No problem Ray!
I actually hate the idea because "(we won't get into why)" well actually I hate any test that does not take dyslexia into concideration and the Certification exams fall into that catagory.
But...
With all of our existing metrix already reflected in the last two bars the only thing we have left is Kudoes and those hardly imply "Proven" or "Trusted".
We could count tags since they contribute the forum (used in searches) besides I have a zillion already.
