The good news is that we realize the importance of the E-List to the community.  We are currently looking into developing a list that does not rely on the UI of the discussion forum.  This way, we are not nearly as susceptible to the bugs (or bug fixes) that have been plaguing us recently.  Also, we are freeing up our community members from maintaining such a list, hopefully giving you more time to spread your knowledge in the forums!  We are very thankful for all of the work that you have done to make this list (especially Chilly Charly) and we will work closely with you to make sure that the new list meets the requirements of our community.
When we are closer to developing the list, I will post additional updates and solicit feedback.

Well, at least now, we know...
The missing ratings problem as not been solved for the period running from August to October. Is there any plan to update the counters ?
The search bug I exposed a few post above is still uncorrected. The search engine behaviour is unpredictable. How many posts are we missing - 1%, 10%, more ? My guess is 10 %. The forums are a fantastic information source... as long as there is a proper tool to dig into it...
How long will be the delay before a new EList is available ? 1 month, 3 months, more ? Could you give us a guess ?

Our previous attempt at providing a list was unsuccessful because shortly after we finished it, the format of the files we were given changed!  The new format will take us some effort to get to the point where we can parse them.  However, this new format should not change on us, which helps.  What I ultimately envision is that we provide the raw data (posts for the last week and whatever other metrics we can reasonably provide) and the community can analyze it - perhaps using much of the work you and Chilly Charly have already done (followed by animated discussion on the thread ).   Of course, at this point I don't know how much of this will be feasible, but this will be what I would like to accomplish with this project. 

I realize that the E-List threads contain lots of suggestions, so when we are closer to the parsing part of the project, I'll be sure to go through those.  They are very long though, so I will be looking for suggestions as to what data the community would like to see to make sure I'm not missing important things!

There are no plans to change the missing rating problem for those months.  By counter, are you referring to the average message rating you see in your profile?  I plan to bring this issue up again in our monthly meeting. 

I've been tracking all of the search problems you've reported.  I also have tried to find some myself.  I can successfully find some in the Feedback board, but I'm most interested in ones from the Hardware or Software boards.  Have you come across any from these boards?  I tried for about 20 minutes and couldn't find anything.  I'm trying to build a convincing case about this issue to present to our forum vendor. 

I really don't have a good guess about how long before the community will see a new list.  We are still in the gathering resources stage.

I was under the impression that the forums are a database (which would make sense) and that  you as admins should have (almost?) full access to that DB, and of course be able to extract whichever data you want directly from the tables. Is this not the case? Or are you saying that the structure of the DB changed?

Hi tst,

We don't have much more access to the information than what you and Chilly Charly have.  The type of file we get has changed which is why we were not able to keep up with our original effort. 

I hope to have more luck on the second time around!
