Hi Laura,
I'm using Safari and MacOS 10.5.4. The issu may be related to pages stored on my own computer, although I believe the buffering as been disabled.
When trying to attach a vi, I get an "Unexpected error" message. I'll make some experiments later, and keep you informed.

I have noticed a strange behaviour when connecting to the forums in the past days: I apologize if this issue has been already discussed, but in all honesty I didn't had the force of reading all this thread
I used to shortcat forum pages to access them directly and login automatically, using a connection string like this one: http://sine.ni.com/niforum/niforum?lang=US&requireLogin=True&forumDU=http://forums.ni.com/ni/board?b...
This has been suggested to me several months ago form an experienced user and I have extensively used it till now for several pages simply creating different shortcuts with appropriate board.id.
When I came back from vacations a few days ago I noted that these links are still valid for italian forum page, spanish one and multifunction daq one but not for CVI page: when connecting to it (board.id=180) it always results in error HTTP403 - Acces denied. This happens even when, after connecting to another forum page, I log in and then try jumping to the shorcutted cvi forum.

Hi Roberto,
The changes to the forums changed the URL to slip in that extra "ni".

Yep, this makes sense!
I wonder why I was having this "/ni" already added to some shortcuts only: I have not changed them for months!!

Two things:
1. Did the Edit time limit change? I timed out and I'm sure it was well within 10 minutes./... 😠
2. Selecting text and dragging it to another location results in the text going to an altogether different location. Ctrl-X & Ctrl -V (Cut / Paste) do work.
Didn't read all the posts to see if it was already reported..

I've noticed this as well. Has happened to me a few times and I eneded up posting a new message. Got my post count up, though.

When typing in the edit box, and the current message is larger than the edit box (e.g. after some embedded images and quotings), it is difficult to add new text towards the end, because the edit box tends to automatically and without warning scroll towards the top, hiding the current type position below the lower margin.
Sure I can resize the edit box so everything shows, but that should not be necessary.
Dittos that!
When going back and adding inages to a post, I feel like I am fighting the editor.

To throw my 2 cents in, I too have been pretty disappointed with the new editor. I've just seen a case where it seemed to jump on its own. And since the edit box only seems to hold about 10 lines, the message would quite easily be larger than the edit window.
The biggest problem I've seen is that it is slow to load. It seems like it is loaded and I will start typing. Sometimes my characters appear, sometimes they show up as just a bunch of vertical lines, than it all pauses for a few more seconds while some other portion of the editor loads in the background. Then than some more pause as some of hte icons or buttons load (this is whether I'm on a T1 line at work or DSL at home). Eventually, if there were vertical lines, they will change over to the proper characters I had typed, but I might miss the second half of my sentence with whatever I was typing while the editor went into pause mode. Basically, the editor seems to load more slowly and rather erratically.
Even items like the smiley window (just had scroll bar jump right here) is slow to load. And even when it looks like all the smileys have loaded, you really can't click on them for several more seconds because it seems to be loading just a bit more code in the background. (Had a few more scrollbar jumps while testing the smiley behavior, it seems to jump to about the 3rd or 4th line of the message):smileymad:
One more thing about the smileys. Do we really need all of the ones that are there? Only the yellow circle ones seemed to be used on a regular basis. I find that the man, woman, and robot series of smileys are very hard to read and tell them apart from each other. Which one of these are smiling? :manhappy:
:womanhappy:
(Answer: All of them, but only the yellow smiley is clear) I would propose eliminating them and perhaps adding a few more appropriate yellow smileys from the emoticon thread.
I had some more scroll bar jumps, it seems to occur any time I move the mouse out of the edit window and over the upper toolbars or the lower right corner of the edit window. (which I just discovered that the lower right allows me to drag the edit window down to enlarge it.) It seems to jump to the top of quoted message and right after the "Ben wrote:" part.
Some of what I just wrote I believe was discussed in some of the other messages in this thread, but I don't remember all of the details. I just wanted to put my comments in about the new system and as I was writing this, I was starting to see some patterns to the strange behavior.
On a positive note, I see that when giving out stars, they seem to be reflected immediately again in the message thread.

Wow.. this new editior is becoming a real pain..

Lithium has reproduced the editor window jumping problem and is taking a look at it. As for the size of the editor window, you can resize it. There are black diagonal lines in the lower right corner of the editor - click and drag to resize if needed.
Thanks,
