NI Discussion Forum Upgrade - November 2, 2007

Laura,

Thanks for the response back. Smiley Happy

In reply, I'm not quite sure why that page was changed in the first place. I used to use the link to see if the where any responses that where not part of my bookmarks. Now I have to make two click to view all posts. The rest of the information I dont care about and If I did want to see it, I can see most of the information on the main NI Discussion pages or on the dashboard.

well that's my piece said Smiley Wink

Laura,

Problem again. Smiley Sad

I gave 5 stars to this post & also to this, but they are not taken into account even after several refreshing of the page.

But the 'Rate this Message' got hidden immediately.

In both these posts the user Om was given 3 5Stars, & I gave the fourth to each of them. Still it shows only 3 %Star ratings.

Whats going on wrongly there?

Hi Partha,

Both of those posts show (4) 5 star ratings now.  It really just takes a number of minutes before they show up.  I'm not pushing Lithium to fix this right now because we should be seeing a new rating system in the future, and I would rather that they continue to develop the new rating system.

Thanks,
Laura

Hi Laura,

Thank you for the feedback. Smiley Happy

However, working in LV, I expect more speed from the forums features. Smiley WinkSmiley Very Happy

Hi Everyone,

There were a few more fixes:

Subscription emails - Weekly and Daily Digest are now working as expected for Board subscriptions.
The extra reply button Ben points out here is now removed.

Thanks,
Laura

Ravens fan - Edits must now be completed and submitted within a 10 minute window.  It sounds like you may have seen the wrong message.  I'll have a closer look.

Hi Laura,

I did an experiment with a recent message I posted to see if I could get the wrong message.  Original posting was at 4:18 pm.  I did a couple of edits within the time frame of 10 minutes.  As an experiment, I started another edit before 10 minutes was up, then waited until the 12 minute point (4:30 pm).  I posted and got this screen which makes it sound like the edit was successful, but actually wasn't.  (screen shot taken at 4:35pm).

I don't have any issue with the 10 minute limit.  But I just wanted to draw your attention to the misleading note on the webpage.Smiley Happy

Hi Ravens Fan,

The error message should make much more sense now.  I've changed it to:  "Your edit has been not been submitted.  You must complete your edit within 10 minutes of posting your message."

Thanks for letting me know about this!

Laura,

One thing I've been noticing since the upgrade is that the site response time is much slower than before. I don't know if this is related to the upgrade, or to something else. It's not unusual for me to see 5-10 seconds before I actually get a page. I do not see this with other sites, so I don't believe this is a problem with the network connection I have. It seems to be quite specific to the forums.

One thing you should check is the automatic subscription option on your preferences settings. By default it is set to thread, which is OK for casual posters.

Since you are quite active, set it to "none" else the site needs to do a lot of shuffling. I had horrible delays long ago and this helped a lot.
