NI Discussion Forum Upgrade - November 2, 2007

Has anyone figured out the conditions required for the thread (as listed in the LabVIEW forum) to show up as read (not bold)?

I keep thinking there are new posts to threads and yet when I look they have not.

THis is driving me nuts!

Tracking new posts was the only method I had left to making sure that I saw everything.

This is driving me nuts! (hold I said that already, SEE WHAT ITS DOING TO ME).

Sorry but I am going to have to sign off.

Argghhh!

Hi Ben,

I don't follow what you are referring to.  What browser are you using?  With either Firefox or IE7, I go to a board, click on an unread thread, load the thread, and then click back and that thread shows up as read.  What am I missing?

Thanks,
Laura

I don't have this problem. Everything unbolds after I read it. Also make sure that you are not missing a second page of the thread.

(Of course things must remain bold if you are not logged in. Are you?)

IE6 appears to be a problem. Over the weekend I had no problems from home with IE7, but come to work today with IE6 and after reading a message, it stays bold unless I do a refresh.

Thank you Dennis - that is the browser I could not test.  I'll reproduce it and report it to Lithium.

It seems it is no longer possible to start a new thread in the "LabVIEW fans of Lego" forum:

This had been reported.  I consider this a major issue and hope to hear back soon about when we can expect it to be fixed.

Thanks,

I can now confirm that this works fine with FF (where it did not work until now) and IE 7 and that the problem is limited to IE 6.

As for the IE6 problem - I did just reproduce it, but it's very intermittant.  Sometimes it recognizes the threads have been read and other times it does not.  Eventually, it did recognize them all as being read when I used the <<Message Listing link instead of the Browser Back button.

tst - you had this problem in FF 2.x over the weekend?

I will now report this to Lithium as a major issue and keep you all updated.

Thanks,
Laura

I don't know if this is a forum bug, or a browser issue. I was looking at the "NEW images only! Do not reply" thread simply because the "Sort Threads by Newest Message Time" is not working again and it now appears on the first page. Anyway, that thread has a bunch of images. On reply #6 there's two large JPEGs attached. If you click on the JPEG and while it's loading, then click on the browser's back button *before* the image has fully loaded you get an otherwise blank page with only a short message at the top saying something like "The image <image path> cannot be displayed because it contains errors." The image itself is actually fine. This page only appears very briefly, as you are then taken back to the thread. I've only seen this with Firefox 2.0.0.9. I tried it in IE7 but did not see this interim page.

Not over the weekend, but until the forum upgrade - that's what was the original thread I linked to was about.

As I originally said, I also see it intermittently in IE 6, but it happens a lot.
