New Features on the NI Discussion Forums!

Ed - what version of Firefox are you using?  I haven't had any other reports of not being able to give Kudos and I can do it with Firefox 2.

I am using FF 3, but I have just tried on Firefox 2 on another machine, and it worked fine.

Is it normal that a double quote followed by a right parenthesis gets turned into a smiley?

I think that this letter combination is too common in normal text and should not be converted. I think this is relatively new behavior.

Even weirder, it still shows the double quote also as text (see above).

Just catching up on reading some posts and saw this one...

I have had that happen to me recently (early this week).  I doubt it existed before the recent change.  Don't think it's needed.. ") " ) is same as 😉 ; )

I believe this is the symptom that I had brought up in this thread.

Yes it is..  Thanks.

The new forum features are interesting.  Focusing more on answers than exploring the features for now.  Which is why I'm finally reading this thread.

Maybe a little improvement to the kudos is a confirmation dialog if someone gives a solution to the questioner.

I see this quite often, and a little 'are you sure' dialogue might be nice?

Accidental Kudos are a lot like accidently saying "Thank you", so I see no need to add a confirmation dialog. What would be nice is to be able to add text to go with the thank you Kudos so we can explain why we Kudoed the reply.

Thank you...

You saved me having to post the same thing,

I didn't know that!

You are amazing!

etc.

This would help the forums by letting us learn more about what the community likes when we posted Kudoed replies.

Yes, I know I could simply add a reply after applying the Kudos but I'm trying hard NOT to inflate my post. Smiley Surprised (no seriously, I'm really trying!).

Let's keep the Kudos thing simple..  There's not enough time to select more oftions, etc..  Just hit the button and move to the next thread / activity / etc/...

No I don't mean a kudos dialog, but a solution dialog if the questioner sets it's own message as a solution.

See here, where Chrisger or smercurio should be awarded.

Now that makes sense. There could be a note that says that they can change ita at any time by....

I second that idea.
