New NI Discussion Forum Feature - Tagging!

Laura,

I am a LabVIEW Enthusiast (at least NI told me that a few years ago), but can't add messages to the feature brainstorm forum. I have quite a few ideas...

As for the champion status... I filled in the request form about 10 times, on different computers and os's, but I never receive an answer...

Regards,

Wiebe.

Only NI personnel can start threads in the brainstorming board. The rest of us have to use the product suggestion center.

As for being an enthusiast, that requires having 2000 posts, but I believe Laura already activated tagging for active members as well.

Didn't get that from the original post. I'll check out the suggestion center.

NI send me a certificate that states I'm a LabVIEW Enthusiast. They also send me a very large coffy cup that says LabVIEW Enthusiast... So I guess I am a LabVIEW Enthusiast.

My accounts are mixed up. I have four accounts on my name (don't know why, I didn't do it. not on purpuse anyway). In total I might get close to 2000. I guess I have mail someone to have them joint together...

Regards,

Wiebe.

That board is designed for NI to get feedback on features they are planning to implement, not for feature suggestions. That's why only NI users can start threads there. I didn't see it referenced in this thread, though.

Probably because you use your email reader instead of the forums interface. I believe that it automatically creates a new account for each email address. I don't think NI can actually merge your different users, but even if it could, being an enthusiast would not give you any new abilities.

Hi wiebe,

I just wanted to say that everything tst has posted is correct.  (Thanks tst!)

You can see your accounts here.  Somehow you've got multiples because you use a newsgroup reader.  Two of those accounts have been disabled since the new discussion forum was implemented in 2004, while the other two are still active.  You'll notice that they are actually slightly different - wiebe@CARYA and Wiebe@CARYA.   One gets credited when you post using the newsgroup reader, and the other when you sign into the web interface of the forums.  Together, your accounts have 1548 posts.  Unfortunately, I cannot think of a way to merge all of your accounts

Over the years, I think our definition of Enthusiast has evolved.  I'm not very familiar with what it used to be, but I know that some people have LabVIEW Enthusiast mugs.  Of course if you were an Enthusiast back then, I'm sure you are still an Enthusiast today  Smiley Very Happy Today, we recognize NI Discussion Forum Enthusiasts - these are people that have posted 2000 times or more.  We also have the LabVIEW Champions program which is separate from the forums.  I'll see if I can find out why you never heard back if you submitted an application.  The page does say to expect an email about your status.

I hope this clears up some confusion!

Regards,
Laura

Wiebe,

I have not received an application for the LabVIEW Champions with your name on it.  I apologize for any inconvenience.   Do you recall form which page you submitted from?

Thanks for the answer. We're getting sligtly of topic here...

These are just my accounts from this job. In 2003 I switched job, and changed my profile to reflect that change. Somehow, this resulted in the 4 accounts you refer to. In the previous job, I had a great number of posts as well (wiebe@AIR)!

I can still log in under the other accounts, it would be nice if they could be joint. However the only reason for it would be the eternal fame. No priority.

That's good to here...

Never got those mails. Looks like my message never got send. Also, no real priority (except the nice extra color on the NI week badge).

Wiebe.

For the sake of history....

Back in the day....

It was possilbe to become an Enthusiast in each of the sub-forums ie LabVIEW, LV-RT, DSC, DAQ, etc.

At that time you had to post at least 25 replies in one of the forums and then you could apply to become an Enthusiast in that catagory. At teh bottom of each sub-forums main page there was a list of the top contributors for that forum and the top contributor had their picture displayed. Before the forums were converted to Lithium Smiley Mad I had managed to become an Enthusiast in ten sub-forums. In its current form 250 posts doesn't even get noticed.
