New message notification email format

Received several forum message notifications this morning with a new format, hopefully just a transient glitch 🙂

 

The new format had lots of blank lines interspersed with the first few lines of text, pushing the Subject, Author

and link lines off the bottom of the window, requiring a scroll down to see them.  Makes reviewing the notifications

much slower.  Any chance this is an aberration and we will get the old format back?

What email client are you using? On my Outlook it looked OK, after I clicked the button to download the pictures, since the "save us all from the evil internet" security protection prevented the pictures from being displayed. (Who's that protecting anyway?)

Never occurred to me that someone would embed pictures in an email.

It sure looks like it is related to embedded graphics, but when I look at the message source

there are no links, just text with lots of newlines.

 

Client is Firefox 3.0.4.  Worked fine until this morning, then all of a sudden the format changed.

Don't see an option to display inline graphics, not that I would want to.

Hi Matthew,

 

Your account is setup for the text email notifications rather than HTML.  If you get the HTML version then you will see the NI header.  I have reported this issue.

Thanks Laura.  Text only is what I would prefer, without spaces where the graphics would go 😉

Still doing it as of 13:20 Eastern.  I'll let you know if it isn't straightened out tomorrow afternoon.

 

Overnight messages were ok, then several with the strange formatting, then one normal, then

all since with the new format (all same email client and session).

Hi Matt,

 

The change was made last night.  I reported the issue and our vendor is looking into it, although I don't have an estimated time for a fix.  I'll keep you updated.
