Pasting URLs improved!

Solved!
Go to solution

Pasting an URL used to paste the URL as title. I'd then have to copy paste the URL in the URL, and go back to the site and paste the title to the title.

Now it pastes the title as title, and the URL as URL.

Absolutely fabulous!

This saves me 30 seconds every link I post, several minutes every forum session, hours a week.

Thanks!

... sorry don't quite get it. "title" remains blank and text is filled with URL but I can change that later.

Please explain once more. Thanks. 🙂

(What would be interesting is if I directly paste an URL into the text box, it would go to that link, grab the page title, and substitute it for the displayed text.)

When I paste: https://forums.ni.com/t5/forums/replypage/board-id/130/message-id/17159

I get: Reply to Message - NI Community

I don't insert the link by pressing insert link, I just copy the URL, and paste it in the message. Then I get the title in the title, the url in the url. Not sure if that's what you're doing.

It could be something that changed in Edge?

So I paste the URL directly in the message, the WYSIWYG text editor I'm typing in right now.

Perhaps I should make a video... If I can figure out how. I guess I can programming with OpenCV...

I think it is likely a browser setting.

I use Firefox and the behavior for me is more like Altenbach describes than what Wiebe describes.

OK. Well, it's great.

I didn't notice any upgrades to Edge, but that doesn't mean much...

EDIT: Sorry, Chrome did indeed not change...

Hi wiebe@CARYA,

As far as I know we didn't change anything related to URLs so maybe this is related to changes to your browser. Glad it's working better for you!

Best,

Mark
