Problems with the NI website

I have tried to send an e-mail to NI support several times over the last week.
The company I work for has implemented strict Internet WebWashing / Functionality blocking.
I am able to reach the page where I type in all the information & message for support.
When the message at the bottom of the page says  javascript validate() nothing happens
I have just about broken the mouse pounding on the submit button.
It extremely frustrating to be blocked from your technical support.

One last thing. Spell check goes off into never never land also.

Hi Rich_G,

Thank you for posting your concerns on the feedback board.  I have a few questions for you.

Can you tell me anything more about the strict Internet WebWashing / Functionality blocking that your company has implemented?  I'm not familiar with what exactly they must block.

When you were trying to submit your request, were you trying to attach a file?  This is where the process seems to have gotten hung up for you.  Were you trying to contact us using the email or phone method?

Where were you using the spellchecker?  Was it in the NI Discussion Forums (forums.ni.com)?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Regards,
Laura

Spell Check was within NI Forums.

In Email Technical Support

I was not attaching any files. I had prepared the email with hand typed text and was ready to

submit the email but the submit button was disabled. Something must be different with the submit

on email support , vs, the Discussion forums.  when I would press the submit button javascript validate() would

appear on the lower right hand corner. I do not know the details about how they are blocking, or what exactly

they are blocking, we are guessing that Flash, and Ajax are blocked. tool uses the trademark Webwasher.

I do believe that there is more to it than that. If there is not a "plain Vanilla" option, we will not be able use the Email

support option. For the first time in years I had to actually use the phone for NI support. fyi. spell check dies on this page too.

It pop's up a new page and quits, never returns, I kill the page and continue here.

Hi Rich_G,

I did an internet search for WebWasher and there seemed to be more than one product that used that name, but it looks like you may be able to temporarily disable it so that JavaScript can run.  You may want to look into that for submitting email requests.  The other idea is to see if your IT department keeps a "safe site" list and if so, to have ni.com added to it.

Thanks,
Laura

Hi All,
Just wanted to add a note (if belatedly) to this thread: I see this symptom very frequently on my own PC - because of the security settings in my browser.  If this happens in Internet Explorer, try navigating to Toos\InternetOptions\Security, select "Internet" and open "Custom Options".  If any of the Java-applicable settings are disabled, this could also be causing the problem - but don't change anything here (click Cancel)!!!  Back on the Security Tab select "Trusted" then "Sites" and add '*.ni.com' to the trusted-sites list.  Open "Custom Options" (for Trusted Zone) and confirn that Java-script settings are enabled here.

Here's a link to a Microsoft article on this topic.

Cheers!
