Rating System Change

I had done a "Report to a Moderator" operation on the message, so it was probably due to that. I posted a message in this thread to flag the instance as well. The main reason is due to this whole ratings issue, and to flag Laura if the implemented change is having an impact (or not).

Another 2 examples of 1-star rating, which to me, seem completely undeserved:

http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=276027#M276027
http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=276090#M276090

Granted that the second response was mine, but I don't think that either one deserved a 1-star rating. They were guesses, after all.

Since the rating system has changed, that means whoever gives those ratings must have at least 50 posts..  I didn't see any reason for low post ratings (they were gone by the time I went there).

I would be curious to know if the person giving the 1-star:

(a) contributed to the thread

(b) regularly give 1-star ratings

(c) just a fluke (not the multimeters)

(d) is NI employee (s-c-a-r-y)

(e) all above except (c)

(f) none of the above

Just curious... that's all

I had reported the posts via the "Report to Moderator", and I can confirm that Laura removed the ratings as she notified me directly by email. While I have the answer to one of those bullets, I will let Laura answer, as I do not want to divulge anything she might have said in the email in case she didn't want the specific information to be made public.

So this time, and the previous time that I cleared the rating for a message, the 1 star rating was given by a person not participating in the thread.  If the person had been participating in the thread, I would not have cleared the rating.  I'd say that this person sometimes gives low ratings, but not always.

So to answer the multiple choice question, I choose f - did not contribute to the thread, sometimes but not always gives 1 star ratings, probably wasn't a fluke, and was not an NI Employee.

I'll be as happy as all of you when we get to institute a better rating system

Thanks,
Laura

LOL!!

Poor Laura..   Just keeping us happy and away from 12-star ratings is a full-time job!  😄

I must admit that I would hesitate to give any 1-star rating..  😄  Even if deserved!  😄

LOL!

Thanks Laura 🙂

PS:  I wasn't expecting an answer to my quiz... 😉

Hmm... There seems to be an interesting side-effect when a moderator removes ratings from messages. On the page that displays the list of messages, the rating for the overall thread is still shown, even though now no reply has a rating:

Another, "Why did this person get a 1-star rating?"

When I looked at it, Charlie got a 1-star rating by 1 person.  He answers that the question can't be done specifically, but there is a way to work around.  Nothing wrong with that answer, is there?  The 1-star couldn't have been from the original poster because they only had 15 postings.

You can go to the Help link to learn. Put simply, in any of the boards you want to post to, click the New Message button.
