Remove Kudos Button

Overall I also wouldn't change the kudos system, it is nice and simple (yet clearly some people still don't realise how to use it, or perhaps don't bother). More detail could be fun and interesting... although this may come at the cost of less kudos being delivered overall due to an increase in complexity?

Just thinking out-loud really.

No telling. It could increase or decrease activity. But the more I think about it having a "Funny" category might get abused. I can imagine a poor new user asking a basic question and getting tagged as funny. Of course everyone could see who did that to the poor guy.

My take FWIW ( I actually looked that up  " for whatever its worth")

IMO, any member of the community should be encouraged to contribute in any way they can- this is a community forum.  Kudos is generic- And I like it that way! just a generic "pat on the shoulder" that can be useful to set off outstanding posts (or really funny ones) I want to read.  So they are one method to provide positive feedback.  Negative feedback- or feedback that could be taken negatively should be reservered for constructive criticism within the thread- or avoided alltogether if a professional tone cannot be maintained.  (OK, I have posted flames too so I'm not perfect either) but recognize that they detract rather than add to the communities (and hence my own) benefit.

I would not want Boos or Laugh-tracks as part of instant feedback Kudos are enough for me and are an improvment over the star ratings as well a 1 star rating could be considered negative.

But it might be useful if the kudos button were like a radio button for why the kudo is being given. Three categories that come to mind are "Insightful", "Helpful" and "Funny". Maybe there could be three more bars under the existing three bars for those categories. The information is mostly useless but it might be an interesting way to categorize contributors.

My guess is that those are better suited for tags.  The problem I see with specifically rewarding funny posts is that it will encourage more engineers to attempt humor, and their idea of funny is usually bad engineering puns.  Comedy is best left to us trained professionals who know that physics puns and Chuck Norris jokes are definitely the way to go.

I agree.  "What is the integral of 1/Cabin d(Cabin)"  and "One can not be represented in Binary" get me rolling on the floor everytime.

Re:Kudoes

They are now in the form my mother always said "If you can't say something nice then don't say anything."

Yes. Just go to the options pulldown menu of that message and choose Revoke my Kudos. As long as it is not one of mine 🙂

Note that you may have to refresh the webpage so that the Revoke Kudoes menu option will show up in the menu.

I thought I was able to game the search engine here enough so it will no longer show up, but I did not count on google. I guess I need to post this sentence all over the web now to drown it out in the noise. 😮

(Just kidding. I still stand by the fact that 1degC cannot be fully represented in binary when using units in LabVIEW. :D)
