Try IE 9 beta!

Internet Explorer 9 (beta) is officially out and seems great.

Whoever feels like trying it, please see how well it works with the forum and report any issues. 😄

I had read about this on The Register.

Too bad it won't run on XP. That's just bizarre.

They have to do something to make people upgrade to Windows 7.

I generally use Google Chrome, but for testing purposes, here's my setup:

IE 9 Beta running on 64-bit Windows 7.

Noticeable problems:

1) User icons are stretched, pixelated

2) Smilies, hyperlinks, insert image do not work

3) General website layout is messed up: overlapping text, stretched images, etc

4) The only way to post a response is in the HTML tab, neither of the other two work.

5) While trying to submit the post, a message continues to popup asking if you want to navigate away from the page.
Even after selecting "yes", your post is never added to the thread

So my advise: stick to your old web browser for a while.

IE 9 looks like a nice light browser, very similar to Chrome in layout, but they need to work out a lot of bugs.

Just out of curiosity; Does upgrading Internet Explorer still upgrade Windows Explorer?

If so, has anyone noticed any improvments to general file navigation, searching etc?

Still? Did it used to?

The only time I've noticed changes to Windows Explorer is between Windows OS versions (XP >> Vista >> 7).

But maybe I'm just unobservant Smiley Tongue

I believe this "integration" of browser and OS got MSoft slapped around by the Dept. of Justice.

I installed the official release of IE 9 on my laptop. I found that I can't use VI snippet drag and drop.

I know that this was an issue with Chrome, but I can't use IE 9 either. I'm running Windows 7 and IE 9 64-bit.

I heard from a user this morning that upgraded to the IE9 release candidate and he wasn't able to post. He could type into the editor, but when he clicked post the text disappeared so I guess it's not quite ready for release yet.

Yes, same here.  I got IE9 inflicted on me today (not a beta, it came as a recommended update from windows update).

I can compose in the "Rich Text" window, but when I click the "Preview" tab there is nothing, and on going back to the Rich Text tab still nothing.  Just hate it when an app wilfully throws away what I just typed !

This posted over a "Citrix" connection to my employer's server running IE7 !  Getting that Citrix connection working was another challenge, again thanks to IE9.
