inserting links became highly dysfunctional

Solved!
Go to solution

Inserting and editing links has become very difficult with the new updates.

before the update:

  1. highlight some text
  2. press link button
  3. insert URL in the second field (after deleting the pre-existing http:// in that field).
  4. Press insert
  5. Link is fine, contains original text and points to URL.

now:

  1. highlight some text
  2. press link button
  3. Both fields will be empty (???)
  4. Enter URL
  5. Press insert
  6. ---> original text is lost!

editing a link is also no longer possible:

Click on an existing link and link button highlights as before, press the link button: all fields are empty (???)

(Before, the existing link and the link text were already filled in for convenient editing)

I guess in the process of finally fixing the presence of that stupid "http://" in the link field, they are now wiping all fields. 😮

Notice that the dropdown box for current window or new window is now gone as well.

Thanks for reporting this behavior, Altenbach and crossrulz. It looks like this bug is only affecting Chrome... which is interesting since in Firefox and IE the "http://" prefix is still there. I'll let Lithium know of the bug!

You guys are great!

Thanks,

Jordan

link test to this thread.

They have not... 'finally fix[ing] the presence of that stupid "http://" in the link field' on Safari on the Mac, but I agree fully with Christian's opinion of the pre-existing entry in that field.

Checking the link by quoting and editing Lynn's link.

When I edit the link,, the link URL box shows  /t5/Feedback-on-NI-Discussion-Forums/inserting-links-became-highly-dysfunctional/m-p/2155888#U2155888

But it winds up working.  I don't understand why because all of the forums.ni.com is missing.

(This is in IE8)

I see blank fields on the new version of FF (15.0.1).

tst - are you using windows7 64 bit as well?

I am unable to reproduce the issue using FF 15.0.1, W7 32-bit. Would you be able to clear your cookies and cache and confirm the issue still persists for you, crossrulz? I've also informed Lithium you are experiencing this in FF. I'll work to reproduce it as well.

Thanks,

Jordan

Ok, clearing cookies fixed mine.
