I was only clearing NI cookies. When I totally cleared my cache and cookies, the issue was resolved.

Please let me know if clearing the cache/cookies does not resolve your issue.

This happened on two PCs, one with 7 32 bit and one with XP 32 bit. On both of them it seems to have gone back to normal without me doing anything.

Checking the link by quoting and editing Lynn's link.

When I edit the link,, the link URL box shows  /t5/Feedback-on-NI-Discussion-Forums/inserting-links-became-highly-dysfunctional/m-p/2155888#U2155888

But it winds up working.  I don't understand why because all of the forums.ni.com is missing.

This works because web browsers are smart about completing incomplete URLs: they assume the beginning of the URL is the same as the page on which the link appears up to the portion of the path specified by the link.  This makes it possible to do things like provide a link to a an anchor (a specific location in a document) by providing only the anchor without the full path to the document, or include images that reside in the same directory by specifying only the file name (or a relative path).  In this case the server isn't provided, so it uses the same server name as the current document and simply appends the new path.
