"Sort Messages by Latest Post Date in each Thread" Not Sticking

For some reason starting yesterday this preference in my profile is no longer being saved. I prefer this option off, and every time I save it as off it automagically gets itself turned back on after viewing the board a few times. For example, I can go into my profile, uncheck the box, and save. Then, I go to the board and I see the message list is the way I want it. I'll look at a message, then click on the "Message Listings", and find that the message list is now sorted the way I don't want it. I go back into my profile and lo and behold that option is checked again!

This only seems to happen with this particular option, but it's damn annoying. Anybody else have this problem?

Interesting.  I was able to reproduce that one this morning.  I'm guessing you are in the minority in preferring this sort order which is why no one else has brought this up. 

I will report it as an issue with the developers and keep you posted on progress.

I had this option set from the very beginning and it works. I just checked my profile and it is still enabled. I guess the option is working, it is just the meachnics of changing the option that is currently broken.

My experience with testing it this morning is that it wants to stay "checked" and the problem is that if you want it to be "unchecked" it decides to change back to "checked" after a little bit.  I think that the majority do want to see the threads sorted by latest activity instead of creation date.  Make sense?

I prefer that sort order for the same reason that I like to see my email by creation date. Also, there are often times when there's activity in a thread that two months old that didn't interest me in the first place, but shows up at the top because the sort is by activity rather than thread creation date. If I really want to be made aware of posts in an old thread, then I would just use the subscriptions.

The funny thing is that it was working up until very recently, like up until a couple of weeks ago. I believe there was an upgrade done to the forums at that time, wasn't there? That's when people started seeing the "Transaction in progress" pages.

This issue has been reported and is on the developer's list of fixes.  Progress at this point is slow, but I will reemphasize it's importance.  Thanks for keeping us on our toes!

This issue has now been fixed!     I had to try to set it a few times, but now it seems to be holding!

I am retracting my comment . . .   It worked for about 5 minutes then "rechecked" itself.
