Holy Cr@p

Something completely crazy happened literally during the middle of a browsing session on my iPhone, there is now a mobile version! Looks great, I'll see if it sticks or if I switch back to full site.

Linefeed test, hopefully this is on a new line.

Quick thoughts so far:

I miss my floated boards
I miss the quick link to my profile page

Clearly haven't figured out how to edit posts yet. It seems that clicking on the envelope brings you to the mobile version of the profile page.

Replying via phone for testing....

I must say I like the full interface better. Fortunately we have a choice 😉

Just tried the mobile version on my Android. Clicked on a post which sent me to the standard web page to login, (not a mobile version). This failed even though I entered in the correct username and password. When back to the main screen and noticed that I was signed in Smiley Surprised.

Haven't tried to respond to a post.

I think for modern smart phones on a fast network (3G, 4G), the full site is preferable. The current mobile site seems to be optimized for ultra-tiny screens and GPRS connections and has very limited functionality. 😄

It was fun and interesting, but I am back to full site mode on the iPhone as well.  The problem with many "mobile" sites is that in an effort to cram more into less space they wind up leaving no room to start a drag-scroll and you wind up tapping a link anywhere you put your finger.  The full site works pretty well on the iPhone in portrait mode.

The real deal breaker was the lack of not only floated boards, but an indication that the boards had unread messages.

Would have been great about 3 years ago.

Hi Everyone -

You're right, we did enable a mobile version of the forums.  I'm partial to it, but I don't quite use the forums the same way that you all do.  I had an announcement planned, but the version was enabled when I was out of office so thanks for finding it for me Smiley Wink

I appreciate the feedback - I'll send along the things you feel are missing to Lithium.

Regards,

Laura
