Hi newtoFP-
It sounds like you are having software or driver problems that are preventing your FieldPoint controller from communicating properly. I would first try to verify connectivity.
If you are seeing connectivity but not proper operation I would suggest re-entering your device configurations as the configuration (.iak) file may have been corrupted.
If you're unable to connect I would try to verify that the serial port is not being reserved by another application and that the cable is firmly seated in both connections and the device is powered up before you attempt to access it. If you can test the setup on another computer and with a different serial cable we might be able to isolate the problem better to the FieldPoint system or the computer itself.
Another good option to try would be to update both your FieldPoint drivers for the host PC and the firmware for the controller itself. The most current version of the FieldPoint driver is available at this location.
If these methods are unsuccessful, please reply with any error codes you see in communication and the exact error text from the error popup.
Thanks-
