Fieldpoint error when installing RT software

I am having trouble trying to install LV RT 7.0 on my CFP 2020 controller.  I have the IP address configured and MAX will recognize the device, however, when I try to update the RT on the 2020, I get an error message.  It says something like error 65: Timeout occurred.

I have tried resetting and reformatting the device and still have encountered this problem.

Any ideas on what I could try next?

Earl,

Are you changing the IP address to an address outside of your subnet or to something otherwise unreachable?  What is the IP address of your PC and what is the IP you're trying to set the controller to?  Make sure you can still ping the controller (Start » Programs » Accessories » Command Prompt, then type ping 1.2.3.4 with 1.2.3.4 being the IP address of the controller). When you change the IP address of the controller, MAX will remember the controller is there, but in fact it may not be able to reach it.

Also, as always, make sure the Windows Firewall is disabled during this phase of your setup.

Hey Paul,

I can ping and even FTP to the device, I just can't update the RT OS.

Earl,

How are you connected to the host PC? Crossover cable? hub?

I have it plugged directly into our network.

Earl,

Some more questions for you:

Has your host machine had a later version of LabVIEW Real Time installed on it since 7.0? If so, you may way to try re-installing LabVIEW Real-Time 7.0 and the Fieldpoint driver.  Also, what version of the Fieldpoint Driver do you have on your machine? Have you succesfully updated the software from this machine in the past? Did this module use to have a newer version of LabVIEW RT on it?

You mention it hangs during the software add; is this when adding LabVIEW RT to it or when using the Update OS... button?

I got it to work.  I had a software mismatch between the device and my development machine.  After I installed the correct software, everthing seems to work- software wise...

On another note, is there a reason that my cFP-AI-110 clips voltage readings at about 1.5volts?  I have MAX configured to be +/-10 Volts for the entire module and the 'tester' panel in MAX confirms the same behavior.

Thanks again,

Earl

Hi Earl,

I cannot think of a reason that the voltage would clip, as long as you have properly configured the input range and have your signal connected to the Vin and Com terminals so that it is properly ground referenced.  Where is your signal source coming from?

Do you have another terminal block or AI-110 that you could swap out for testing purposes?

Regards,
Laura
